MATH 1LT3, Winter 2019

CALCULUS FOR THE LIFE SCIENCES II

Which calculus course should I take?

Math 1LS3 - 1LT3   This two-semester sequence, called Calculus for the Life Sciences, has been designed for students in the Life Sciences. Math 1LS3 assumes that you have taken Grade 12 Calculus and Vectors, however, necessary background material is revisited in the context of numerous applications in biology, medicine and elsewhere. You should take Math 1LS3, or both 1LS3 and 1LT3, if you are in any Life Sciences program and/or are required to have one or two semesters of calculus, for instance to satisfy the calculus/math requirement for a professional school.

Math 1LS3 and 1LT3  are accepted as a prerequisite for more advanced courses in mathematics. However, if you think, from the onset, that you will want to take upper level math courses, we suggest that you register for Math 1A03. If you finished Math 1LS3 and plan to take upper level math courses, then consider taking Math 1AA3 instead of Math 1LT3. The reason is that Math 1AA3 covers some material that 1LT3 does not, and which is used in Math 2X03. If unsure about this, talk to your Math 1LS3/1LT3 instructor.
