About the Speaker
Dr. Fred Hoppe is a professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at McMaster University. He earned his doctorate at Princeton University and prior to coming to McMaster, in 1987, he held postions at the University of Alberta, Cornell University and the University of Michigan. Dr. Hoppe's research interests are in the area of stochastic modelling. He has applied such models to the study of population genetics. Dr. Hoppe also does extensive consulting work particulary with Ontario Power Generation for whom he works on the analysis of data from CANDU nuclear reactors.
