Application Procedure for
Graduate Studies in the
Department of Mathematics & Statistics

Every applicant for graduate study is asked to complete an Online Application and to supply the following required documentation:

  1. One official/notarized transcript of academic work done to date, sent directly from the issuing institution. If the final transcript does not show that a completed degree has been conferred, an official/notarized copy of your diploma is also required..
  2. Two confidential letters of recommendation from instructors most familiar with your academic work. Recommendations must be provided directly from the instructors.
  3. If English is not your native language, an official copy of your TOEFL or IELTS score. For TOEFL a minimum score of 92 (iBT) 580 (paper), or 237 (computer test) is required. For IELTS a minimum overall score of 6.5 and a minimum of 5.5 in each section of the Academic test click here for more details.
  4. Payment of the non-refundable application fee. The amount is $90 Canadian dollars if paid by credit card, and $105 if paid by cheque or by money order. Please make cheques payable to "McMaster University".

The deadline for September admission is February 1. A small number of students may be admitted in January and the deadline in such cases is September 1.
