Computer (and related stuff) Recycling Day

On October 22nd, there will be a computer/electronics recycling tent set up outside the student centre run by the Office of Sustainability, University Technology Services and Facility Services. You can take old stuff there and it will either be recycled, safely disposed of or targeted for re-use. UTS staff will be on hand to wipe hard drives clean.

The full announcement follow ...

As part of McMaster's 2009 Campus Sustainability Day celebration, the Office of Sustainability, University Technology Services and Facility Services will be collecting outdated technological devices from McMaster University. Collection, reuse and recycling of technological devices have become an important area of focus because these devices not only contain harmful chemicals such as cadmium, mercury and lead, but are also costly to dispose of in a responsible manner. At the end of the day McMaster's Facility Services and Waste Services Inc. will be picking up all left over electronic devices to be fully recycled. If your office has computer equipment that is destined for recycling or that could be reused by someone else, please take advantage of this special opportunity!
