Network Outage on Saturday
The network connection between Hamilton Hall and the rest of campus was down for part of Saturday morning - email and web sites were inaccessible for that period. UTS got things working again very quickly once the problem was reported.

Mail Delay Fixed
There was a problem delivering some email messages to mathserv (or to addresses forwarded from mathserv) Sunday and Monday. I've addressed what I believe to be the source of the problem and mail is flowing freely again and most of the undelivered messages should appear shortly.
Mail and web sites were inaccessible for about five minutes at 6:10 pm while I was working on the problem.
Printer Demanding Paper from Tray 1
The printers sometimes insist on having paper in Tray 1 (the pop-out or fold-down tray on the top or side). While this can be caused by a print job formatted for non-standard paper, it can also be caused by printer settings getting "stuck" on Tray 1 selection. If your print jobs repeatedly cause the printer to ask for paper in Tray 1, edit the file .lpoptions in your home directory and remove in references to Tray1 or Tray_1.

MATLAB Upgrade
MATLAB 2007b has been installed on the msprime workstations and the compute servers (bluespruce, bayes, etc.). Use the command matlab2007b to run this new version; matlab2007a and matlab2006a will remain available.
As for December 10th, the command matlab will run version 2007b; until then, the command matlab will continue to run version 2006a.
