Power Off in HH, T13 Sat. June 18th
Due to construction and renovations, power will be shut off in Hamilton Hall and T13 on Saturday, June 18th. HH will be powerless from 8:00 am to noon; T13 will have no power from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.
Our UPS will not be able to keep the servers up for that long; I will shut them down at 7:45 am and turn them back on in the early afternoon. All RHPCS-managed unix (incl. linux and OS X) boxes will have automatic shutdowns scheduled for 7:30 am. Windows users: you should shut your workstations off when you last leave before Saturday.
Email (that is, @math.mcmaster.ca e email) will be unavailable while the power is out, but the www.math.mcmaster.ca web site will be up via a mirror in ABB.
Following is the announcement from Physical Plant.
The power to the following buildings will be shut off on Sat, June 18/05 from 8.00am until 12.00pm ( 4 Hours ) to install new electrical switchgear associated with the upgrades to the new substation at the Burke Science Building. During this outage, the emergency power will provide limited lighting and power to critical equipment.
Please ensure all computers and servers are switched off to avoid losing data.
